NEWS - 'SOCIAL FILM DRAMA WINS TOP EUROPEAN AWARDS'
The Glennie-Omni Partnership, has scooped two gold medals and a bronze at Europe’s leading business communication awards. The awards ceremony at The Grosvenor House hotel in Park Lane on Friday 30th March was organised by the IVCA, International Visual Communications Association.
The gold awards, for Best Drama and Best Script, and bronze for Best Music, were presented to the Glennie-Omni Partnership for their film ‘The Overdose Notes’, a powerful social film drama that charts the death of a drug addict following his release from prison.
Commissioned by the Wiltshire Criminal Justice Board, the film follows a criminal justice official as he talks to the people personally and professionally involved with the victim and seeks to understand how the death could have happened.
‘The Overdose Notes’ is the second film produced by the partners in a style they call Social Film Drama. Their first film, ‘Protecting Jayne’, about the management of serious offenders, was made last year for the Home Office
Following the successful screening of both films, Glennie and Omni decided to formalise a partnership to create powerful Social Film Dramas highlighting the plight of some of Britain’s most vulnerable people.
“The experience of working with Omni Productions on these two films has been so positive that we agreed on a partnership for future Social Film Drama work. The three awards we’ve received for ‘The Overdose Notes’ is icing on the cake.” said Ian Glennie.
Richard Penfold said, "Our ambition is to become a leader in this genre of drama production in the south west and to show the region’s talent at national and international level.”
This award-winning partnership is already researching several new films, for which it is seeking funding from public and private sector organisations.
